Especially the multiplayer part of Gear Grinder is supposed to be fun. With the demo version you can now test the game before it finally hits the markets. The trail version offers the full tutorial chapter with the first four missions and the first mission of the second chapter.

Gameplay

Blood Bowl is a two-player, turn-based board game that typically uses 28 mm miniatures to represent a contest between two teams on a playing field. A board containing a grid overlay represents the field. Using dice, cards, and counters, the players attempt to outscore each other by entering the opponent’s end zone with a player who possesses the ball.

The “Blood” in Blood Bowl is represented by the violent actions available to players. Game play is based on a hybrid of American Football, Rugby, and ultra-violent fictional sports events such as Rollerball. Players may attempt to injure or maim the opposition in order to make scoring easier by reducing the number of enemy players on the field.

The player races are drawn from the ranks of fantasy races and have characteristics that reflect the abilities of those races. Elves tend to be agile and good at scoring, while Dwarfs and Orcs are more suited to a grinding, physical style of play. Players are also divided up into positions suited to their role on the field, including Throwers, Catchers, and Linemen.

In league play, players gain additional skills and abilities based on their accumulation of experience points. Players face potential injury or even death on the field throughout their careers. Teams improve by the purchase of off-field staff such as cheerleaders, assistant coaches, and apothecaries.

Teams consist of eleven to sixteen players, of which eleven are allowed on the pitch at any one time. Each player is represented by an appropriate miniature and has statistics and skills that dictate his or her effect on play. There are four player statistics:

* MA (Move Allowance) indicates how fast the player is.

* ST (Strength) indicates the player’s basic fighting ability.

* AG (Agility) indicates how well the player handles the ball and evades opposing players.

* AV (Armor Value) indicates how difficult it is to injure the player.

In addition, players may have special skills that affect any number of circumstances in play. Some of the more commonly used skills are Block (for fighting), Dodge (for dodging out of an opponents tackle zone), Sure Hands (for picking up the ball), Pass (for throwing the ball), and Catch (for catching the ball). These skills are not necessary to perform their corresponding actions, but will give the player an advantage.

In his or her turn, a coach may have each player take one of the following actions:

* Move – Move the player through empty squares (opposing players may try to trip the moving player if he or she moves close to them).

* Block – Fight an adjacent opposing player who is standing.

In addition, the following four actions may be taken by one player per team turn:

* Blitz – Move and then Block an adjacent opposing player who is standing (or Block and then Move).

* Foul – Move and then foul an adjacent opposing player who is prone (or just foul an adjacent player who is prone).

* Pass – Move and then throw the ball (or just throw the ball).

* Hand-Off – Move and then give the ball to an adjacent player (or just give the ball to an adjacent player).

Some skills also allow for special player actions.

If a player action fails, the team turn ends immediately (with some minor exceptions). This defining game mechanic is called the turnover rule. The turnover rule makes every action tense for the coaches, and together with the four-minute rule (a team turn must be completed within four minutes) it can make the game very fast-paced. Some rules such as the eleven player limit may be broken as long as the opposing coach does not notice; other rules are strictly off limits. (For example: Failing to move the re-roll counter in order to get a free re-roll)

Wow! it’s been a year since a bought my Playstation Portable and I never thought that it was already it’s fifth year last March 24, 2005. For me, this is the best gadget I ever had simply because it’s Portable – you can bring anymore – you can play music, movies, games and even connect through the internet with it’s wifi features.

The gameplay is much similar to that of its predecessor, in which the player is free to roam the game world at will without having to focus on the game’s storyline, much similar to that of other sandbox style action games, like the Grand Theft Auto series of video games.

Several new additions and improvements to the game were explained by the lead designer of the game, Peter Johansson. The AI has been rewritten for Just Cause 2. It now uses a planning system which enables enemies to do all sorts of new things. For example, the enemies will use the environment to their advantage, taking cover behind objects and adapting dynamically to the objects around them. The hybrid aiming system is also a new feature that helps the player to quickly aim at enemies while leaving the player in full control over the cross-hair, as such, the player is rewarded for skillful manual aiming. It also enables you to pinpoint specific limbs manually and have varied crippling effects on the enemy. Just Cause 2 also has an adaptive difficulty system, gradually scaling the difficulty as the player does more in the game.

The game takes place on the fictional island of Panau, situated in the Malay Archipelago. It is geographically similar to both New Zealand and Hawaii.

There are several new weapons in Just Cause 2, such as a rocket launcher with laser-controlled rockets, a one-handed grenade launcher, a remote triggered C4, and a detachable mounted minigun. There are several new vehicles added in Just Cause 2, including a Jumbo Jet. There is now a greater difference in the handling of different vehicles. Ground surfaces now have a large influence on the player’s controls; so: while a sports car may be suitable for driving on a flat road, it is not particularly suitable for off-road driving. There is also a real-time deform system and moving parts that can come loose from vehicles.

The player must acquire weapons and vehicles in the field of their own accord, as Rico doesn’t have official support from the agency in this game. But later information revealed you can acquire weapons and vehicles off the black market.

Early in the game the player contacts a black market supplier, from whom you can buy weapons and vehicles and get them delivered to the player’s location via heavy drop. As the game progresses, additional weapons and vehicles become available on the black market. Additionally, all weapons and vehicles on the black market have parameters that can be upgraded in several steps, by building upgrades with weapon and vehicle parts. There are over 2,000 parts that the player can acquire.

Tiberian Twilight gameplay typically requires the player to construct an army and acquire resources, in order to fund the ongoing production of various types of forces with which to assault and conquer the opponent’s base. It will also differ greatly from many past games in the series, removing many past traditional elements and replacing them with elements from more recent and popular RTS games such as Dawn of War II such as the new interface and resource gathering system as well as base construction. Unlike in Tiberium Wars, it will feature class based gameplay as well as RPG elements. However unlike in previous games in the series it will not feature base building prominently with only the Defense Class able to build a full base, the other classes would only be able to construct armies using the Crawler. There will be no naval warfare in Tiberian Twilight, as was the case with previous C&C games in the Tiberium universe, as opposed to games in the Red Alert universe who feature naval units in one way or another.

The game’s current alpha interface is more similar to the “bottom bar” of Command & Conquer: Generals rather than the traditional “Sidebar” which had been a staple feature in most previous Command & Conquer games. The game’s interface, like Generals, seems to be inspired by the interface from the Age of Empires Series or StarCraft series rather than the original sidebar which had been used in the more recent Command & Conquer games Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3. In addition the game will remove another traditional method of resource gathering which is to build refineries which will in turn send out harvesters to mine Tiberium, the game’s main resource, at Tiberium Fields and instead opt to make the player constructing rigs at predetermined locations which would harvest Tiberium from the core network and then constantly produce resources till destroyed much like oil derricks in previous games.However Tiberium Crystals like in previous games will be present in the field as “eye-candy” but will not be usable in any way. Yet another difference from the traditional C&C games is the presence of a population cap something which is present in many other RTS but was only featured in the Xbox 360 version of Command and Conquer.
